When deciding on what to do for my original digital art for the portfolio I decided to take a black and white photo and colorize it similar to one of the very first projects in this class. The main way that the stair case I colored differs from the plane I made in the past is that rather than making the photo seem semi realistic I would go all out with wild colors not feasible in real life. When making this project i got hit by a wave of nostalgia when in order to make the project I would have to go over the very same video tutorials and explanations I had done at the beginning of the year. What this also made me realize is how much I have progressed in my general Photoshop skills. I was able to do a project that would have taken several class periods at the beginning of the year in less than an hour. This really made me appreciate the skills I have accumulated through the first semester, because aside from technical skill I must also acknowledge that my eye for color has gotten somewhat better when comparing the two pieces on aesthetic alone. When making this piece I was partially inspired by the YouTuber EmpLemon who employs a downward spiral animation that influences the structure of his videos.
